DESCRIPTION:CHEMUNG COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKSTO HOST PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGFOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECTIN THE TOWN OF VETERAN\, CHEMUNG COUNTY \nApril 3\, 20254:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Town of Veteran Town Hall4049 Watkins Road\,Millport\, New York 14864 \nThe Chemung County Department of Public Works will host a public information meeting from 4:30 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday\, April 3 rd \, 2025 pertaining to an upcoming project to replace the bridge carryingBenjamin Road over Bulkley Creek in the Town of Veteran\, Chemung County. The bridge is located eastof the Benjamin Road and E. Sullivanville Road (CR 15) intersection.The informal\, open-house style meeting will be held at the Veteran Town Hall\, 4049 Watkins Road\,Millport\, New York 14864. Preliminary project plans will be available for review and representatives fromthe Chemung County DPW and their consultant\, LaBella Associates\, will be available to answerquestions. No formal presentation is planned.The proposed project will replace the existing bridge\, which was constructed in 1944 and has reached theend of its service life\, with a single-span bridge that will be supported on new abutments\, that willaccommodate all legal loads\, including buses and fire trucks\, with improved bridge hydraulicperformance. The new bridge will be longer and wider than the original crossing and will be constructed inaccordance with modern design standards\, enhancing safety and mobility for pedestrians and motoristsalike.To reduce travel impacts during construction\, it is planned that a portion of Benjamin Road will betemporarily closed in the vicinity of the bridge\, and an off-site detour will be utilized during the constructionof the new bridge.
