Public Hearing for Consideration of New Town and Country Fire Department for Fire Protection

TOWN OF VETERAN

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Veteran on October 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall, 4049 Watkins Rd., Millport, NY 14864 for the purpose of considering a new contract with the Town and Country Fire Department for fire protection to the Town of Veteran Fire Protection District #3, said new contract to be upon the following general terms:

  1. Department shall answer and attend all fire calls in said District
  2. For such services, Department shall be paid the sum of $93,800 for 2027
  3. Department shall maintain and operate a fire station at Horseheads, NY
  4. Department shall insure all of its equipment against all liability and shall protect the Town from liability for any accident in which any Department vehicle may be involved
  5. The contract shall continue until December 31, 2027
  6. Such other incidental terms as may be necessary and proper.

 

All persons will be given an opportunity to be heard at the time and place aforesaid. The Hearing Officer will accept written comments from the public via the Town Clerk, ([email protected]).  Any person requiring special assistance should contact the Town Clerk prior to the meeting.
